The new production from HBO and SKY Ogrodnicy is an exciting and full of surreal humor exploration of love and imagination with the participation of Oscar winner Olivia Colman and David Thewlis. The miniseries will premiere on December 8 on HBO GO.
Based on true events, the series Landscapers tells the extraordinary love story of Susan (Olivia Colman) and Christopher Edwards (David Thewlis), a seemingly ordinary British couple. The two become prime suspects in a murder case when police discover two bodies buried in the garden of their Nottingham home.
The mild-mannered spouses Susan and Christopher Edwards have run away from reality for over 15 years. One day, Christopher makes a surprising phone call to his stepmother, revealing the role of both of them in crimes from years ago. Their relationship is subject to police investigation, and the committed couple are separated for the first time during the marriage.
As the investigation progresses, inspired by Susan’s obsession with old westerns and old cinema, the spouses begin to imagine that they are the heroes of a Hollywood movie and act out a script they have created. The imaginary world of Susan and Chris provides them with a much-needed form of a safe haven, protecting them from the horrors of real life, but also posing a threat to them that could lead them to their utter destruction.
The cast includes the award-winning Olivia Colman (The Favorite, The Crown) as Susan Edwards with David Thewlis (Maybe It’s Time To Stop It, Fargo) as Christopher Edwards, and Kate O’Flynn (Bridget Jones 3), DipoOla ( Killer Hunt), Samuel Anderson (A Men’s Story), David Hayman (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas), Felicity Montagu (I’m Alan Partridge), and Daniel Rigby (Eric and Ernie, Flowers). The four-part ministerial was created and written by Ed Sinclair, and is his first screenplay for television. The co-writer and director of the series is Will Sharpe (The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, Flowers), who brings his unique approach to the story to the production.
The Landscapers miniseries was produced by SISTER, in association with South of the River Pictures, for HBO and Sky Studios. The executive producers are Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry for SISTER, Ed Sinclair and Olivia Colman for South of the River Pictures. The production is directed by Will Sharpe, who also co-writes episode 3 and 4 and serves as executive producer. Katie Carpenter is the producer of the miniseries. The series is distributed internationally by NBC Universal Global Distribution on behalf of Sky Studios.
